Ambassador
Emre Yunt was born in Ankara in 1962. He completed his primary, secondary, and
high school education at TED Ankara College and graduated from the Department
of Public Administration at the Middle East Technical University.
He began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985, serving in
various departments at headquarters, including the Cyprus Department, Personnel
Department, American Department, and the European Union Relations Department.
From 2007 to 2009, he served as Deputy Director General for the European Union
Accession Process, overseeing Türkiye’s accession negotiations with the EU.
Between 2013 and 2017, he held the position of Director General for
Multilateral Economic Affairs, during which he led the organization and
coordination of Türkiye’s G20 Presidency (December 2014 – November 2015).
His overseas assignments included posts at the Consulate General in Chicago and
the Embassies in Tehran, Washington, and Beijing. He served as Ambassador of
the Republic of Türkiye to Qatar (2009–2013) and to Sweden (2017–2022).
Following the earthquake of February 6, 2023, he was appointed Coordinator
Ambassador at the Support Center established within the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs. He later served as the Ministry’s Representative in Gaziantep from
November 15, 2023, to May 1, 2025.
Ambassador Yunt assumed his current post as Consul General of the Republic of
Türkiye in Deventer on May 1, 2025.
He is married and has one child.
