H.E. Volkan Bozkır will assume the 75th Presidency of the UN General Assembly today following an official ceremony to be held in New York.

In this regard, H.E. Bozkır will formally open the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly under his capacity as the President of the General Assembly.

The President of the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly H.E. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande and the Secretary General of the United Nations, H.E. António Guterres, will also participate in the official ceremony.

In addition, a separate flag ceremony will take place today at the Office of the President of the General Assembly. The Turkish flag will be placed next to the UN flag during the one-year term of H.E. Volkan Bozkır.

H.E. Volkan Bozkır has assumed this important duty within the UN system at a historical period when the Organization commemorates its 75th anniversary. We are confident that H.E. Volkan Bozkır will successfully fulfill this distinguished responsibility and provide the necessary political leadership that the UN General Assembly calls for.
